Rebecca Clive, BA

Becky is the primary project manager for Dr. Maust’s University of Michigan and Department of Veterans Affairs research. She started her career in research as an RA in 2007 and has worked on projects examining substance use and interpersonal violence in teens and adults, peer support for suicidal ideation, success of Veteran college students across educational institution types, and now dementia care and appropriate prescribing among older adults. She has particular experience obtaining regulatory approval and monitoring oversight for projects that are structurally unique within the approval framework. Becky lives in Ann Arbor; you can find her at the public library, the Big House, or next to any body of water.
Julie Strominger, MS
Data Analyst/Statistician

Julie serves as a data analyst/statistician on the Maust team. She received her M.S. in Biostatistics in 2014. Her interests include study design and analysis using observational data as well as data management. In her off time, she enjoys baking, word games, and spending time with her nieces and nephews.
Molly Turnwald, BA

Molly has worked in the Geriatric Psychiatry Department for nearly ten years and enjoys being on a team that protects and improves the lives of the older adults. Before joining the department, she provided private care for individuals with dementia and has had a passion for this population ever since. She enjoys meeting and interacting with research participants, establishing relationships with coworkers and collaborators, and spreading the word on the important work that Dr. Maust and the gero psych faculty are conducting. Outside of work, Molly stays busy with her 4 children who sometimes make Zoom appearances and make life so much fun!
Charity Hoffman, Ph.D., MSW

Charity holds a Master of Social Work (’12) and a PhD in Social Work & Sociology (’18) from the University of Michigan. She brings expertise in qualitative research methods--including interviews and focus groups--as well as scholarship at the intersection of health and social sciences. When not working, Charity enjoys gardening, particularly growing dahlias, as well as baking and traveling. She lives in Ypsilanti with her husband and two daughters.
Kierstdea Petzold, MS

Kierstdea received her M.S. in Biostatistics in 2022 and has served as a Data Analyst/Statistician on the Maust Team since that time. Her professional interests include implementation and design of observational research studies and causal inference with observational data. Kierstdea loves to spend time with friends and family, be outdoors, traveling, hiking, and camping, as well as reading books or a watching good football game. She lives in West Michigan with her husband and 3 boys.
Erika Ratliff, LLMSW

Erika graduated with her Master of Social Work from the University of Michigan in December 2020 and joined Dr. Maust’s team shortly thereafter. As the team's Clinical Research Coordinator, she maintains oversight of project goals for a number of federally funded grants and assists in qualitative research activities. Outside of work, Erika has a number of creative outlets and most enjoys the company of her dog Nandor.
Terrence Gatton, BA
Clinical Research Technician

Terrence holds a Bachelor's degree in Neuroscience from Skidmore College and joined the Maust Lab in 2024. As a clinical research technician, he helps the lab with day-to-day administrative tasks, participant recruitment & data collection, and management of experimental procedures/protocols. In his free time, Terrence enjoys biking, home cooking, and occasionally playing the piano.

Rachel earned an M.S. in Biostatistics from the University of Michigan in 2023. She is a data analyst on Dr. Maust’s team, where she enjoys applying her statistical knowledge to projects that aim to improve the health of vulnerable populations. In her free time, Rachel enjoys doing yoga and Pilates, watching reality TV, and spending time with family and friends.
Jenna Case, MS

Jenna is a statistician on the Maust team, with a strong passion for healthcare data and research. She holds a B.S. in Health Communications and an M.S. in Biostatistics, with a background in patient care. Outside of work, Jenna enjoys staying active, baking, and exploring new places through travel.
Hannah Ratliff, PhD, BSN

Hannah earned her PhD in Nursing from the University of Michigan in 2024 and serves as a postdoctoral research fellow on the Maust team. She brings her nursing experience and growing expertise in long-term care nurse workforce research. Outside of work, Hannah enjoys trivia nights, puzzles, a good game of euchre, and spending time with her kids.
